The Story

Small  Plate by South Australian ceramicist Chris Wilksch/Indigo Clay.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Chris works from her seaside studio ‘Indigo clay’ in the Fleurieu peninsula, South Australia.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Design (Ceramics) from the University of South Australia, she set up her own studio in the Adelaide hills, before moving to the beach.

She works with stoneware and porcelain, mostly wheel thrown functional pieces, and formulates her own glazes to reflect the inspirations from the surrounding coastal environment - foliage, rocks, waves, seascapes, hills, sunsets and storms.  She is deliberate and considered about technique, form and function and believes that each piece can hold the energetic intention of the maker.
